"St Raphael"

Large antique stained glass
window c1910. Leaded and hand
painted
depicting a full length figure of Archangel Raphael. Above
is a scroll inscribed "Be Unto God For Ever And Ever" Below are
stylised Flower painted quarries similar to those of Morris & Co.
Painted on coloured "Antique" streaky glass, flash glass and silver
stain paints have also been used. Beautiful window and excellent
quality, fully restored and in a wooded frame of a later date.
William Glasby
joined J Powell & Co in 1876 as an apprentice and became
their chief painter. In1891 he left Powell & Co to join Henry Holiday’s
new workshop. By about 1897 Glasby was producing his own designs in a
style
heavily influenced by Holiday and also Morris & Co, for whom he later
worked
as a painter. He was in business on his own account from about 1919.
